Planes, Trains and Automobiles is a must-watch Thanksgiving movie.

American Thanksgiving is on Thursday, November 23 this year and while us Canadians have already celebrated ours (over a month ago), it’s still nice to partake with our neighbours to the south.

Instead of cooking another turkey dinner, here’s a list of Thanksgiving movies you can watch this week to celebrate American Thanksgiving.

Pieces of April (2003)

One of Katie Holmes’ best films, Pieces of April is a very underrated, enjoyable, indie Thanksgiving movie. Patricia Clarkson, Oliver Platt and Alison Pill also star. Pieces of April is available to watch on VOD services in Canada.

Home For the Holidays (1995)

Holly Hunter is a charm in this film about a woman dealing with her life falling apart while navigating family drama at Thanksgiving. Robert Downey Jr., Steve Guttenberg and Claire Danes also star. Home For the Holidays is available to watch on VOD services in Canada.

Free Birds (2013)

Free Birds is an animated Thanksgiving movie you can watch with the whole family. Featuring the voices of Owen Wilson, Woody Harrelson, Amy Poehler and George Takei. Free Birds is available to watch on Prime Video Canada.
